KFXF Fox 7 to air 13 Alaska Hockey games

Thirteen of the Alaska Nanooks 2012-13 hockey games will be aired locally on Tanana Valley TV’s FOX7, as announced Thursday by TVTV.

Alaska’s games will be featured as a part of the Kendall Toyota of Fairbanks College Hockey Game of the Week, which includes a schedule of 10 CCHA regular season and playoff games. FOX 7 will also air three games that include future WCHA opponents Minnesota State, Bemidji State and Alaska Anchorage.

With the exception of home contests that include the 2012 Brice Alaska Goal Rush (Oct. 19-20), most games will air live in Fairbanks. In a working partnership FOX 7 has with GCI Cable, most of the Alaska Hockey TV schedule will also air statewide on GCI’s community billboard channel (Ch. 1).

FOX 7 has also secured national exposure for the Nanooks this season as FOX Sports Detroit will broadcast the January 12th Alaska at Michigan road game nationally.

This is our seventh year of broadcasting Alaska Nanook Hockey,” says FOX 7 Broadcast Coordinator, and former Nanook, Scott Roselius. “We are pleased to be able to continue our efforts to bring Nanook Hockey into Fairbanks’ living rooms and on a statewide basis. I want to thank Kendall Toyota of Fairbanks for their title sponsorship, and especially General Manager Dave Shuttleworth for his continued support of this venture.” Tanana Valley TV’s General Manager, Chris Fry added, “We’re honored to be able to take part in offering the Fairbanks community Nanook Hockey on TV.”

“We’re excited to be partnering with TVTV’s FOX 7 for Alaska Nanook Hockey broadcasts, and we thank all the great sponsors who help make this possible.” said UAF Director of Athletics Gary Gray. “Nanook Hockey promises to be fun and entertaining again this season. We hope all of our fans will be sure to follow the Nanooks on FOX 7.”
